Geraniums in the Window

Image
Hello Everyone, Today I am posting a card that I designed using Susan's Garden Notes - Geranium die and her Garden Notes - Bugs & Butterflies.  My recent trip to Cushing, Maine to tour The Olson House actually was my inspiration for this card.  My favorite painting is "Christina's World" by Andrew Wyeth.     When approaching the house which is void of paint I noticed a window full of red geraniums. When touring the house I learned that Christina Olson always had geraniums in the kitchen window and they continue that today. Here is how I made the card. Card Base Cut white cardstock 5-1/4 " X 10-1/2" score at 5-1/4" fold on score line. Using a pencil measuring in 1-1/8" from each edge lightly draw 3" square.  Make second square inside first measuring in 1/4" from edge of first square.   Emboss with your favorite embossing folder. Score lines of both squares. Using X acto knife and ruler cut from upper left corner to lower righ...

My Pink Poppy

Image
Hello everyone today I have created a card for Susan Tierney-Cockburn Design Team from Elizabeth Craft Designs which features Susan's Garden Poppy die set.  I was inspired to make a pink poppy by one that grows in my garden.  A dear friend shared some seeds with me a few years ago and I just love this poppy.  Here is a picture of the poppies that inspired me.  The card's finished size  is 5-1/2" X 6" and here is how it was made. Cut white Soft Finish Cardstock 5-1/2" by 12" score at 6" fold on score line.  Cut 1 piece of printed paper 5-1/4"x 2-7/8" and 1 piece of solid cardstock 5-1/4" X 2-7/8".  Cut 1 piece decorative strip to cover seam (ribbon could be used) 1/4" X 5-1/4". Cut 1 piece of chicken wire from white cardstock. Cut scalloped oval from white cardstock (next to smallest from Accordion Oval Card). Ink all edges of card base and all other pieces.  Vintage Photo Distress Ink used here. Stamp "Good...

Hello Spring

Image
Hello Everyone today my post is a card  that I designed for Susan Tierney- Cockburn's Design Team on Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog . Here in my area of Maine the Forget Me Not and Lily of the Valley are in bloom so of course I wanted to incorporate them into my design.   I am excited to post a card that I have made using one of Susan’s new releases Garden Notes Carnation along with foliage from the new CountryScapes Lavender die. I wanted to show you how to stretch your dies combining and interchanging them to make even more flowers as I have done here for the Forget Me Not and the Lily of the Valley.  I  also wanted to show you how you can create different looks by combining embossing folders.  For a full tutorial be sure to visit Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog at link above. Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day. Christine Save

Birthday Bouquet

Hello Everyone it is hard to believe how fast the month of May is flying by.  Why is it the warmer months always go by much faster than those cold months. Today my post is another Sunflower card I made for a co-worker.  I used Susan's Garden Notes Sunflower die (one of my many favorites of Susan's ) along with some Shimmer Sheetz and the Asian Vase die. Here is how this card was made:  Using 3 different shades of cardstock (yellows, oranges and reds ) cut 3 sunflowers.  Cut green leaves and for the seeds in the center of sunflower use 2 shades of brown cardstock (hard to see in picture but it does add some shading).  Shape everything using Susan's Sunflower video as your guide.  Video found here Using 100# white Soft Finish Cardstock make your card base which is 5-1/4" X 5-1/2".  Cut cardstock 8-1/2" X 5-1/2" and score at 4-1/4". Cut Yellow Metallic Shimmer Sheetz 4" X 5-1/4" and emboss with embossing folder of your choice.  Attac...
