Lovely Carnation




Hello everyone weather here in Maine has been beautiful the last few days finally it has turned warm and the flowers are blooming like crazy.  My roses in front of my deck really started popping open today and they are so pretty.

Today my post is using  a new release for Susan Tierney-Cockburn at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I have used Susan's  Garden Notes Carnation die again I love making these they are so pretty and easy.  The card is an A2 card (5-1/2" X 4-1/4".  Here is how I made the card.

  1.  Using a 5-1/2" X 4-1/4" card base either a purchased one or you can cut cardstock 5-1/2" wide by 8-1/2" long and score at 4-1/4" to form your own card base.

  2. Using largest Stitched Rectangle die cut one rectangle from deep pink cardstock,

  3. Take green cardstock and cut to 5" X 3-3/4".

  4.   Cut white cardstock  4-3/4" X 3-1/2" and emboss this piece with Swirly Curves embossing folder or embossing folder of your choice.

  5.   Ink all edges of rectangles and card base .  (Distress Ink - Vintage Photo used here).

  6. Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive attach rectangles to card base starting with largest (deep pink) and ending with smallest (white).

  7.  Cut a Leafy Branch from green cardstock.  Lay right side down onto molding mat and using small ball tool lightly rub each leaf giving it dimension.

  8.   From brown cardstock cut 2-3 branches using Susan's Garden Bouquet Stems and Branches die set.  Also cut several branches from Susan's CountryScapes - The Woods 1 dies set.  On these branches add a clear drying glue to the right side of the branches and dip them into white "Prills".

  9. Using light pink cardstock cut all petals twice.  From green cardstock cut 2 stems.



    1. Distress all petal edges with a darker pink ink.  



    2. Lay all petals wrong side up on molding mat and using small end of loop tool ruffle the edges by pressing and pulling loop from edge to center just enough to make the edge curl.  Do this on all petals.  



    3. Turn petals over and using magenta PanPastel shade centers of all pieces.  Using the same loop tool as before finish shaping petals by pulling loop tool down through each petal careful not to disturb your ruffle.

    4. Using tweezers pinch stem end of each petal and cup center using smallest ball tool.

    5. Adhere 2 stems together using a quick clear drying adhesive.  Lay stem right side down on leaf mat and using leaf tool draw a stem line down center of stem.  Place on molding mat and using medium ball tool shape the “calyx”  by rubbing the ball around (stirring like motion).

    6. Lay stem on non-stick surface and build your carnation.  Starting with largest petals add a small dot of clear drying adhesive to calyx add your first set of petals, add adhesive to center of petals and add next set of petals offsetting a little.  Continue the process until you have all 8 layers added.



  11.  Using clear drying glue attach Leafy Branch to left side of card front.  Attach Carnation over the  Leafy Branch then add Branches.

  12.  Cut scallop oval using next to the smallest die in the Fitted Frames Curvy Ovals set from white cardstock.  From deep pink cardstock cut oval using next to the smallest die from Fitted Ovals set.  Using smallest die in Fitted Ovals cut white oval.  Ink edges on all ovals.  Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive attach ovals together.

  13. Add Happy Birthday Peel Off Sticker.  Attach to lower right of card front using pop dots.

  14. Cut 2 Card Stand / Easel glue together and emboss using embossing folder of your choice.

Good Morning Everyone!  Sorry it has been so long since I have posted but I have been busy getting ready to go to Creative Keepsake Convention and then going to convention. I had a great time taking classes, shopping, eating and enjoying great friends. My post today is using one of Susan's Garden new dies and one of Karen Burniston's pop up dies.  It was hard to get a good clear picture because of the shine from the glitter. Card base is an A2 size card (4-1/4 X 5-1/2) 1.  Panel is made by using Karen Burniston's accordion rectangle die.  Attach a piece of sticker paper  4-1/2 X 5-3/4 to a pc of white cardstock the same size using clear double sided adhesive. Cut 1 frame from this.  Cut the rectangle and tabs from center of frame and the long tab on the left edge of the frame. Run this frame through Sizzix machine using Hearts Entwined embossing folder (or other embossing folder of your choice)  Peel the paper from the front of the frame ( protective paper covering adhesive

Family Birthday Cards

Welcome my crafty friends! Today I have a couple birthday cards I did for our grandson and my hubby.  Our grandson and hubby share their birthday - grandson was best birthday gift ever. Our grandson turned 18 and he loves to fish he has a boat and fishes when he is not working.  Hubby turned 79 and loves his John Deere tractor.   Cards are both 6" X 6" and I used a combination of dies and Cricut to make my cards. The pop up mechanism was same for both it was an old die set of Karen Burniston when she was with Elizabeth Craft Designs - Bathtub Pop Up.  Another time I would reshape the bathtub into a boat but I had already hand cut the boat then went looking for a die set that had a pop up mechanism to use kind of like putting the cart before the horse. KB Riley  1003  Word 2 Birthday, 1031 Numbers and 1049 Camping Charms  were used.  The fisherman, fish and the silhouette of boat and fisherman were cut on Cricut.  Hooked On Fishing was  cut from a top strip of design paper fro

Survivor Pink Sunflower and Berries

  Hello my crafty friends! Another Breast Cancer Survivor card that I created in October.  Once again I used Spellbinders Susan's Garden Sunflower, Acacia and Berry Branch and for this card Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace Lisette Oval Shadowbox Frame die set. My card base is 5" X 7" made from 100# white cardstock.  Embossed layer is 4-3/4" X 6-3/4" white cardstock.  I used a swiss dot embossing folder (it is an old 8-1/2" X 11" embossing folder - I have used it so much it is taped together now).  This piece was attached to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive .  Using the Lisette Oval Shadowbox Frame 2  largest dies I cut 1 from pink cardstock adhered to card front using Bearly Art Glue.   I printed sentiment on white cardstock then die cut using the next 2 dies from Lisette die set then attached to card front using dimensional tape.
