Forget Me Nots & Pussy Willows

Image
Hello my crafty friends! Spring is on it's way so I have created a card with Forget Me Not and Pussy Willows .  I know Pussy Willows actually come and go before we even see the Forget Me Not  but thought they made a nice bouquet.  Spellbinders Susan's Garden Forget Me Not S2-340 from Garden Gate Collection was used and the Pussy Willows I actually designed myself.  You can find a little tutorial for them in a previous post.  The bottle was created from picture I took of a bottle I have and the background paper is one of my pictures printed on cardstock (this was a picture of wallpaper in a back bedroom at the Olson House where the picture "Christina's World" was painted by Andrew Wyeth in 1948.  He painted in a front bedroom of the Olson House) My card is a 5 X 7 card I created from 100# white cardstock.  My design paper was cut 4-3/4" X 6-3/4" and adhered to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive .  Woodgrain piece was cut 2" X 4-3'...

How to Create Pussy Willows

Image
Hello my crafty friends! It is getting to be Pussy Willow season here in Maine so I thought I would write a little tutorial how I create them with paper and wool roving for my cards.  The picture above shows the real pussy willows on left and ones I created from paper and wool on right. I start with wool roving and clear Dawn detergent (any clear one would do I am sure) I pull off a small piece of roving and put a small drop or detergent on it the roll around in my fingers getting it to shape.  Once I live the shape I twist the bottom of it then set aside to dry.  I continue this process until I have the number I want.  You will have to probably have to play around with size piece of roving you use until you like it.  I very lightly add just a little brown or gray chalk (I used PanPastels) to give it a natural look. From brown cardstock I cut some pieces of  small pinecone and I am sorry I don't recall which one and you definitely could cut by hand...

Pussy Willows & Daffodils

Hello My Crafty Friends, Hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy. Today I have a sympathy card I made for a friend - always hard card to make. My card was created using Susan's Garden Notes Canning Jar & Lid, Garden Notes Daffodil / Narcissus along with Garden Notes Stitched Frame It- Squares. Here is how it was created. Step 1  Card base is 6" X 6" white cardstock Step 2  Create a background piece.  Mine was created using  several colors of Nuvo Embellishment Mousse. Step 3  Using a coordinating cardstock to cut a frame using Susan's Garden Notes Stitched Frame It Squares (use two largest together to cut frame).  Using Clear Double Sided Adhesive attach frame over background piece.  Adhere the piece to card front using Clear Double Sided Adhesive. Step 4  Cut Susan's Garden Note Canning Jar twice once from white cardstock that has Clear Double Sided Adhesive on back and one from Clear Sticker Paper.  Adhere the clear jar on top of...

Spring Bouquet

Image
Hello and thank you for stopping by my blog today! Here in Maine things are starting to bloom my lilac trees are getting ready to burst with color and fragrance like none other.   The lilacs do not show the true color in this picture I tried taking several different pictures in different light but could not get the true color to show. Today I am posting a card which has a bouquet of spring flowers hence the name of the card.  Susan's Garden Notes dies were used for the flowers along with her Pottery Pitcher die.  The finish on the pitcher is a result of a botched cracked glass technique but I decided when all was said and done it looked like a very old pitcher and that I liked the look so I used it. Here is how this  6 X6  tent fold card was done.  Cut White Soft Finish Cardstock 6" X 12" score at 6" fold on score line.  Cut patterned paper ( Through the Lens - Wood used here) at 5-3/4" square then attach to card front using Clear Double Side...
