Spring Wildflowers of Maine

Welcome my crafty friends!

Today my card I created has spring wildflowers we have here in Maine.  As I was looking around our new home this spring I saw the Dog Tooth Violets / Yellow Trout Lilies growing on the edge of the  woods and thought that would be a great flower to create to go with the Forget Me Nots and the Lily of the Valley.  Susan doesn't have a die for it but decided to challenge myself to see if I could recreate them.   I picked some of them brought them in and started going through my dies and came up with some I thought would work. For the  Dog Tooth Violet / Yellow Trout Lily I used S2-376 Blackeye Susan from Birds & Bees Collection, S4-1235 Magnolia from Victorian Garden Collection and of course for the other two flowers I used Spellbinders Susan's Garden S4-1085  Lily of the Valley from Spring Flora CollectionS2-340 Forget Me Not from Garden Gate Collection.

I created a 5" X 7" card base from 100# white cardstock then I cut a piece of black cardstock cut to 4-3/4" X 6-3/4" embossed with 3D Textured Embossing Folder then adhered to card front.  For the next layer I cut white cardstock 4-1/4" X 6-1/4" then using Spellbinders S5-602 Notched Corner Frames for the framed area I die cut the opening in  the white cardstock and embossed with a dotted embossing folder then adhered to card front over the black cardstock mat. Next I used same size frame die (die size of your choice) and the next size up layered them together and used Washi tape to hold in place.  Using these dies I cut gold mirror card to make a frame.  I added Bearly Art Glue to back of frame and adhered to the card front.

For the flowers I created 2 Lily of the Valley S4-1085 see Susan's YouTube video  to create them.  Forget Me Not S2-340 I created 2 see Susan's YouTube video  to create them.  For the Dog Tooth Violet I created using the Blackeye Susan S2-376 petals and Magnolia S4-1235 for the leaves and center.  I used cloth covered  floral wire for the stems.   I do not do videos but I have a written tutorial with pictures here on my blog for the Dog Tooth Violet .  I arranged my bouquet on card adhering using Kids Choice Glue.

Susan has so many great flower dies that can be combined to make even more flowers!

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and you will try creating even more flowers.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time - Happy Creating!
