Pleated Begonia Hugs
Hello My Crafty Friends!
Today I have a card for you that I created using Spellbinders Susan's Garden S4-1435 Begonia from Summer Solstice Collection along with S3-516 Arrowood Viburnum from the Winter's Grace Collection. The pleats were inspired by a card I saw on Sue's Paper Creations on Facebook. I saw it thought I could remember how to do so but when I went to make it I made a couple errors but it turned out ok with a few extra score lines. Here is a link to her video (she eyeballed it I scored it) I created a 6" X 6" card so I started with paper 5-1/2" by 12"
For the card base I used a pale pink cardstock cut 6" X 12" scored at 6". My card is a tent fold.
A piece of navy cardstock was cut 5-3/4" square and adhered to card front. Designer Paper was cut 5-1/2" X 12". Score at 1/2", 1", 2", 2-1/2", 3-1/2", 4", 5", 5-1/2", 6, 6-1/2" fold on each line and burnish very well. When pleats are folded you want your piece to be about 5-1/2" so you would have approximately 3" on the right with no score lines so trim to 5-1/2" so you have a 5-1/2" X 5-1/2" pc. On the back of pleated area I placed a couple strips of double sided tape to hold in place. I used Beacon 3-In-1 glue to adhere to attach piece to card front (be sure to remove protective covering from double sided tape.
From Spellbinders Susan's Garden Specialty paper I cut 2 begonias and 1 bud then colored using Olo Alcohol Marker R0.1 White Peach then shaped using Spellbinders Susan's Garden Deluxe Tool Kit. Susan's YouTube video can be found here
Next I created a few pieces of Arrowood Viburnum Susan's YouTube video can be found here
Flowers were added to card front using Kids Choice Glue keeping them to the right of the card allowing the pleats to show.
"Hugs" an older Suzanne Cannon die was cut 3 times from black cardstock with double sided adhesive on back then they were stacked to give it dimension. I adhered it to a piece of pink cardstock big enough so I could tear around it (distress around torn edges) next I adhered that to navy cardstock and repeated the tearing and distressing around it. I used dimensional dots to adhere to card front (I stacked 2 together to even it out due to pleats).
I do hope that this has inspired you to make your own card it is a fun easy card.
Thanks for stopping by and until next time - Happy Creating!
Christine
