Birthday Orchids

Hello my crafty friends!

Spring is on it's way and I do not know about you but I cannot wait to get outside and play in the dirt!

Today I have a card I created for a lady in town that was turning 89 and her family had requested cards hoping to get at least 89 but they got over 100.

My card is a Shadowbox Frame Card and I have used Spellbinders Susan's Garden S4-1363 Cymbidium Orchid from Winter's Grace Collection, Spellbinders S4-1428 Pooh's Honey Pot ( which was a Large Die of the Month) and Creative Expressions 3D Embossing Folder EF3D-071 Weeping Willow.

I made my Shadowbox from 110# white cardstock and then attached to a 5" X 7" 110# cardstock card base.  Susan's video for creating the shadowbox can be found here

From black cardstock I cut a piece to fit in opening and embossed using the Weeping Willow 3D embossing folder.  Adhered to opening using Bearly Art Glue.

Using the Pooh's Honey Pot Die I cut 2 from white cardstock that had Clear Double Sided Adhesive applied to top of cardstock.  I put 1 pot on top of the other then removed the protective covering and applied gold foil scraps all over rubbing it over the adhesive.  I then took a dark brown Rub On and lightly rubbed over the pot toning down the gold.  I used my fingers to give some shape to the pot then added a couple dimensional dots stacked on top of each other added them to lower center back of the pot.  I added Kids Choice Glue around the outer edges then added to card front.

Using Spellbinders Susan's Garden Specialty Paper I cut 7 flowers and from watercolor paper I cut the stems and leaves.  My orchids were colored using Olo Alcohol Markers O 2.5, R 1.7 (for the spots) and Y 2.3 then shaped using Spellbinders Susan's Garden Deluxe Tool Kit.  Susan's YouTube video for creating the orchids can be found here

Using Kids Choice Glue flowers were added to the card front in the Honey Pot.

Hope this has been an inspiration for you to make your own Shadowbox Frame Card.

Thanks for stopping by and until next time - Happy Creating!
